Shop Your Shape

Every girl is unique and lovely in her own way but we all fall into a similar category when it comes to our shape. Some are in between and others its very clear. We pulled some of our customers aside and asked them to help us Shop Your Shape

Inverted Triangle - top heavy with broad shoulders and narrow hips.

As an Inverted Triangle, while your top half may be broad, your lower half is narrow and more trim allowing you to show off your great legs. Therefore finger tip dresses and skinny jeans are your best friend! Here we feature Kaitlyn, her style is girly and bold. She loves pops of color and fun accents. In the first and last dress we wanted to create a more hourglass frame by using cinched waist lines. The 3/4 sleeve length gives coverage to her broad shoulders and the bell sleeve adds a fun flare, perfect for any ginger! The second look, we have a square cut top that helps to hid her middle and give the illusion of a smaller torso. This shape looks great in the flowy, more boxy type tops but must always be paired with skinnies. In the third image we have a bright yellow overlay, offering coverage for her arms and shoulders.

Best: mid-rise cinched waist lines, 3/4 sleeve tops, and skinny jeans
Avoid: Boyfriend cut and wide leg pants
Celebrities: Hilary Duff, Rene Zellweger, Reese Witherspoon

Rectangle - lean shape & naturally tone build; straight torso with shoulders that align with hips.

Being a Rectangle means while you lack curvy features you have great muscle tone and a smaller frame to work with. Here we have the lovely Becky, mother to four boys - she is no doubt a Boymom! Her style is casual chic so we paired her in looks that not only complement her leaner limbs but also comfortable to wear for an active lifestyle. In the first look the bold leopard tank and skinnies paired with lace up wedge and matching tote give her a casually chic every day look for those days of shopping or day events. In the second pic, the flowy tunic and flat jellies are everything this mom of four needs to tackle the day while looking effortless. In the final look, we wanted to show off her great legs! The chunky heels paired with this red wrap dress are the perfect day to night look.

Best - tank tops, skinny jeans
Avoid -  shift dresses or boxy type tops
Celebrities with this shape: Natalie Portman, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Garner

Hourglass - broader chest/shoulders and hips with narrow waist.

Being hourglass shape while desired by many can be the most difficult to shop for. The waist being very narrow makes it hard to find the perfect fit. Here we have Emily, gorgeous as ever, wearing a few looks that really complement her best features. In the first picture she is wearing a lace, cuff sleeve babydoll dress. The higher waistline shows off her small torso and conservatively accentuates her chest. We like the cuff sleeve because it helps bring her shoulders in, giving an overall slimmer look. In the second image we put her in a tailored cropped blazer and black mini. The jacket with its clean lines and tapered cut give her coverage without taking away from her shape. Since she has great legs we couldn't help but pair with this scalloped-trim mimi, making this the perfect day to night look. In the final picture, she is wearing her personal favorite every day look. The maxi hugs her hips but flares out mid-thigh making her appear smaller. This flowy tank with the sides cut longer is perfect to help slim her hips but still show off her great curves.

Best - cinched waist lines, maxi dresses, tailored cuts
Avoid - oversized and square cut tops.
Celebrities: Katherine Heigl, Kim Kardashian, Scarlett Johansson

Triangle - narrow shoulders and wider hip.

Being triangle in shape means you get to show off your petite arms and smaller waist! Here we have the lovely Samantha, her style is classy yet girly. In the first image we have her in a racer-back maxi which really features her upper body, perfect for running errands while still looking fabulous. In the second image we have a highlow blouse. This works so well for her because its tapered on the sides to show how slim she is up top and the longer back lays over her hips. In the final image we have a summer LBD. The high cinched waistline and flowy skirt disguise her hips making her appear smaller. We also love the lace trim detail, giving the dress length while appearing shorter. This dress is perfect for those summer date nights!

Best - maxi dresses, highlow cuts, and flowy skirts and pants
Avoid -  wideneck and oversized tops
Celebrities: Jennifer Love Hewitt, Kelly Clarkson, Leah Remini

Remember no matter your shape YOU are beautiful!

Its May and that means Graduation for so many! A time for celebration and a few tears as you begin the next chapter of life. This should also be the start of a more sophisticated look whether its your high school graduation or college graduation - growing up means adding great pieces to your wardrobe!

Graduating in itself makes a statement about who you are academically, but why not let your inner fashionista do a little celebrating to?! I mean, she did help you get through your academic career, whether it have been at a meeting with a teacher, interview, or one of those fabulous formals you made so many memories at.

The Ceremony Dress, should be both classy and reflect your personal style. We've decided to feature black for our Bentonville Lovelies. In the first image we have Haley wearing our pleated peplum. Haley's personal style is timeless and classic. This dress is perfect for her with its higher neckline and and clean lines but adds a girly flare with the sheer pleated overlay. In the second image we feature Kirby, wearing our classic LBD with cutouts. Kirby's personal style again classic yet simple. The length is great for her height but its also form fitting showing her curves.

The Interview Blazer, a must have for any graduate! Not only is it professional but so chic. Pair it with a great dress, skirt, or skinnies for an extra edge to your look that is sure to turn heads. Here we have Emily wearing it for a day to night look and Haley ready for any occasion in these hyper stretch red skinnies!

Accessories are a must have at graduation. Once you put on your cap and gown, lets face it you blend in, and no one wants that! Earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and clutches are all ways to stand out in that large sea of black with their shimmers and pops of color! Emily, looking gorgeous as always, decided to go bold and make a statement with a pave necklace! Where as our sweet and oh so lovely Kirby decided to go with the forever-classy pearl look. Either way, these ladies are destined to turn some heads at graduation.

Congrats Haley, Kirby, and Emily! We are so proud of you lovelies and excited to share this special moment with you!

My Fair Lovely

Do you find yourself saying no to taupe, peach, and yellow? We hear every day "that washes me out, if only I were tan". Well we are here to help! Wearing cream based shades isn't scary and you should embrace them!

We love this classy taupe geometric dress. Its great to dress up or dress down. However, the taupe scares so many customers from even trying it on. Here we have Haley, with her fair skin and blonde hair to show you how to properly wear cream shades. The print features kelly green, so we pulled a seven layer statement necklace to not only highlight the print but to also separate her neckline from the dress. We included a darker brown belt to show her curves and give the outfit a complete look. Compare the two lovelies, do you think Nikki with her dark hair and complexion is the only one that can pull off this dress?

Peach!! Its such a beautiful shade and so spring.
Here we have Haley in three different shades of Peach. In the first image we feature our dark peach skinnies that work well with deeper tones, especially black which looks great on everyone. In the middle we have a very light peach piko. A basic solid top makes it easy to pair with a scarf that has blues and green hues to really bring out lighter eyes. In the final image we have traditional peach with a print. Again like the taupe dress, you want to pull out colors from the prints when you accessorize. In this case we paired with a hot pink bandeau.

Yellow can be for everyone. Determining which shade compliments you is easier than it seems!
Pastels and lighter shades of yellow are for the fair and light - natural blondes and ivory skin. Richer yellows such as mustard compliment brunettes and darker tones - olive and red skin.

Basic Wardrobe Essentials

Here at the Pink Tomato Boutique, we love to play dress up! Helping the customer pick out a great look and then having them try it on is one of our most favorite things about our job! We hear constantly that our fashion advice helps so many customers and they walk away with a new look that makes them feel great and confident! This inspired us to start a blog to teach others what we've learned and experienced in our fashion journey. So lets get started with.....

Basic Wardrobe Essentials

Dressing to impress isn't as difficult as it may seem. There are basic pieces your wardrobe needs for a solid foundation to create a fabulous everyday look. Everyone knows about the Little Black Dress "LBD" but many overlook the most crucial elements for meeting the standards of a fashionista.

Have YOU met the maxi?? She is a perfect dress or skirt for every stylish girl. Whether it's a fitted tube or a simple day go to, a maxi will always turn heads. Not to mention, extremely comfortable.

If you haven't heard of the Piko, where have you been?! They are here to stay so we've declared them a basic wardrobe essential. We admit they aren't for everyone but 90% of girls, women, and ladies LOVE them! They range from longsleeve to shortsleeve and top to tunic. When you don't feel like getting dressed you put on your piko and voila. The most comfortable piece in your closet! Once you buy one, you can't help but buy more.

Where would we be without the basic of the basic - the long seamless camisole and bandeau add layers, cover up, and create length to the latest trends. They are also a great way to add a pop of color or bring out your favorite shade in a printed piece.

A cropped blazer is a must!! The 3/4 sleeve makes it perfect for all seasons and the cropped lines allow you to pair it with almost anything. If you aren't a fan of your arms adding a cropped blazer allows you to still be fashion forward in the warmer seasons by pairing it with a fun printed tank or strapless dress. Not to mention they are appropriate for all occasions - work, date night, and even church.

Oh Miss LBD, you are lovely! She is both beautiful and kind with her amazing ability to make you look slimmer. Your LBD is out there - go find her!

Black heels, nude pumps, leopard stiletto - all MUST HAVES for any fashionista but don't discount the classic wedge. She gives you height, elongates your legs, all while keeping your feet comfortable. We pray the wedge is here to stay!!

Details Matter! Pendant necklaces are great for layering and add a personal touch to your look. Adding a bold statement necklace can make any simple look into a show stopper. Every girl should invest in a classic black tote and beige handbag. They go with everything and are multi-seasonal. Don't forget your wrist! If you aren't a watch girl, try a basic bangle. The black hair ties do not count!

Some days are just t-shirt days. Showing team spirit always appears like you put slightly more effort into wearing a regular ole t-shirt! If you aren't a sports fan, state love is is the way to go. Also you never know when you might need a local team shirt - friend invites you to a game or even a work function. Go Hogs!
